ALEXANDRIA, VA – More than 45 Alexandria-based nonprofit and humanitarian organizations will be on hand to meet prospective volunteers at the 2nd Annual Community Volunteer Fair on Saturday, September 13, from 2–4 p.m. The event, hosted by Volunteer Alexandria and JustServe, will be held inside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2810 King Street. Admission is free, and parking is available on site.

The fair is designed to connect residents with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities — from assisting children, youth, families, and refugees to supporting animal rescues, food banks, health programs, literacy initiatives, and job training. Opportunities are available for all ages, from young children to senior citizens. “The volunteer fair is a great opportunity to connect with our Alexandria community,” said Amy Barker, JustServe’s Director for Alexandria and event organizer. “It gives nonprofit organizations a chance to showcase the valuable services they provide and lets volunteers know how they can help.”

In addition to meeting nonprofit representatives, attendees can enjoy complimentary snow cones and cotton candy while browsing booths to find ways to share their skills and talents. “We’re grateful for everything these nonprofit organizations do to help our community,” Barker said. “We hope everyone will come out and find a volunteer opportunity that resonates with them. Hopefully, there is something for everyone.”

Residents or organizations interested in hosting a booth can email Barker at [email protected].
