The Zebra Press has confirmation the Mount Vernon Avenue property will remain largely unchanged, though buyer remains anonymous.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A well-known Del Ray property has changed hands. The building at 2100 Mount Vernon Avenue, affectionately known as “The Duchess of Del Ray” and formerly home to the Anne Welsh Salon, was sold Friday, October 23.

Kate Patterson of Corcoran McEnearney confirmed the sale to a limited liability company whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
The property initially went on the market in October 2025 for $3,995,000, as reported by The Zebra, before dropping to an asking price of $2.5 million. Phyllis Patterson of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty confirmed the final sale closed at $2.5 million.
Located along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray’s commercial district, the property is a familiar neighborhood landmark. According to the real estate listing, the main building dates to 1914. The site spans five commercial lots totaling 14,289 square feet and includes 12 parking spaces and a separate building that housed the Welsh Wood Working Shop.

The offering also included architectural plans for an additional retail and rental building, subject to appropriate city approvals. Those plans were part of the property’s marketing; the new owner’s intentions for the site have not been disclosed.
This is a developing story. The Zebra Press will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
