Alexandria, VA – At Alexandria City Hall it was standing room only on January 20, 2020 as state and local city officials, artistic Alexandria students, and of course many proud parents gathered at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. poster exhibition, highlighting the artwork of Alexandria City Public School students.

This year the theme was “Justice for All.” Awards and certificates of appreciation were presented by Mayor Justin Wilson and U.S. House Representative Don Beyer (D) to those whose artwork had been chosen to be displayed.

Created by the Alexandria Society for the Preservation of Black Heritage, Inc. (ASPBH), the contest has grown from a small exhibit held at the Alexandria Black History Museum to a large program and running exhibit held in the Vola Lawson Lobby of City Hall, where the posters will remain on display through the month of February.
