Alexandria, VA – Alexandria’s Bagel Uprising is headed to Citi Field this fall to compete in the 2026 New York BagelFest, representing the DMV as the event’s only selected bagel shop from Virginia, Maryland or Washington, D.C.
The Del Ray favorite, at 2307A Mount Vernon Ave., will join more than 25 bagel makers from 10 states and five countries on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Queens.
“This was the most competitive process in our history, with less than 9% of applicants selected to compete,” BagelFest founder Sam Silverman said in announcing the field.
Founder Chad Breckinridge began selling Bagel Uprising’s first 100 bagels at the Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market in 2015. The business grew through local pop-ups and a stint inside SnackBar before opening its Del Ray storefront in 2019. Earlier this summer, it expanded with a second location in Ballston.
At BagelFest, Bagel Uprising will compete alongside celebrated makers from around the country and abroad for honors including Best Bagel, Schmear of the Year, Most Creative and People’s Choice. Alexandria will be rooting for its hometown contender.
