Alexandria, VA – Jula’s on the Potomac has been named Best Waterfront Dining in DC Magazine’s Best of the City 2026, a reader-selected honor that puts the Alexandria riverfront restaurant in the regional spotlight.

For owner Jula Jane Coggins, the recognition is meaningful not simply as an award, but as affirmation from the people who have made the restaurant part of their celebrations.

“Some accomplishments are measured in numbers,” Coggins said. “Others are measured in moments.”

She said the honor “means so much because it was voted on by the readers — our guests and our community.”

Jula’s, at 44 Canal Center Plaza, Suite 401, overlooks the Potomac River from the fourth floor of Canal Center Plaza. Its dining room, terrace and Grand Bar offer views of the water, while its menu features chef-driven modern American cuisine, including seafood, steaks, seasonal dishes and cocktails.

Coggins said the restaurant has grown from a vision into a setting for the kinds of moments that stay with people.

“What began as a vision has become a place where people celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, business milestones, and countless sunsets overlooking the Potomac,” she said. “Seeing our team create those experiences every day is something I’ll never take for granted.”

The DC Magazine award recognizes the restaurant’s waterfront setting, hospitality and dining experience. It also comes with gratitude from Coggins for the people behind the scenes.

“To our incredible staff: thank you for your passion, hard work, and commitment to excellence,” she said. “This award belongs to every one of you.”

She also thanked diners who have supported and voted for the restaurant, as well as her husband, Keith, whom she called “my partner in this adventure every step of the way.”

Jula’s serves lunch Tuesday through Friday, dinner throughout the week and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Its Clicquot Golden Hour is offered Tuesday through Friday in the Grand Bar and Veuve Lounge.
