Playa Bowls Plans New Location in Old Town Alexandria
The popular fast-casual chain has submitted a special use permit for an Old Town storefront.

Alexandria, VA – Playa Bowls, the fast-casual chain known for its vibrant acai bowls, smoothies, and other nutrient-packed creations, is setting its sights on Alexandria. The New York–based franchise, which began in 2014 as a simple boardwalk stand, has grown into a nationwide name for fresh and energizing eats. Now, franchisees Jeff Giuliani and Dave Eynon are hoping to bring that same healthy flair to the heart of Old Town.
The team has filed a special use permit with the City of Alexandria’s Department of Planning & Zoning to open a new shop at 1229 King Street. Plans show the location will cover 1,526 square feet and offer seating for up to 20 guests. While most of the business is expected to come from takeout orders, the shop anticipates welcoming between 100 and 500 daily customers, with lunch hours predicted to be the busiest.
According to the permit, Playa Bowls will operate seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving its signature lineup of fruit bowls, oatmeal bowls, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices. “This will be a quick serve restaurant that prepares and sells fruit bowls, oatmeal bowls, smoothies, and juices for takeout and pickup. Playa Bowls provides healthy options with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality superfruits and ingredients.”
If approved, Playa Bowls Alexandria will add a new option for locals and visitors looking for a refreshing, guilt-free pick-me-up right in the bustling Old Town district.
