Alexandria Gears Up to Fight Breast Cancer This October
Update: Oct. 19 Walk to be re-scheduled asap

Alexandria, VA – REGISTER NOW! For the Walk to Bust Cancer!
This year’s Walk to Bust Cancer marks 10 YEARS of providing access to lifesaving screenings for women in the NoVA and DMV area.
This year’s Walk comes at a critical time. A growing number of women (and men) are hurting in our area from lost jobs, lost healthcare coverage, and fear. Many are skipping health appointments even though missing just one annual mammogram can have a negative impact on a woman’s future.
The good news? Together, we can take one worry away.
Register for the Walk and your money goes directly to buy mammograms and follow-up treatments so that our sisters, mothers, wives, friends, and neighbors get the screenings they need.
Join us. Walk with purpose. Give with heart. Because early detection saves lives.
Sunday, October 19, 2025, 7:30 a.m.

Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Fund
The Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Fund is dedicated to ensuring low-income Alexandrians have access to mammograms and other preventive services.
Through partnerships with Neighborhood Health, the Association of Alexandria Radiologists, and others, the Fund underwrites mammograms for Alexandrians who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover these lifesaving screenings. We can fill this need by eliminating cost as a barrier to getting essential healthcare services.

The Fund is managed by its board in partnership with the Alexandria Commission for Women, the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women, and the Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services.
For information on how to access the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Fund or to obtain a referral for a mammogram, contact Neighborhood Health at 571-535-5568 or email [email protected].
