Congratulations to Nicole Jones, owner of Stomping Ground, 2309 Mt. Vernon Ave, who is opening a second location in Tysons Corner. She will be opening in one of the spaces in the former Mike Isabella Eatery food hall. There’s
no opening date set yet. The former location of John Strongbow Tavern and Las Tapas, 710 King St., is becoming Village Brauhaus. This menu will feature German and Austrian food, beer, wine, and a full bar. Per their website, they will offer Great Food, Great Beer, Great Times.
Bastille, 606 N. Fayette, is now offering HalfWayToFriday with weekly specials in the bar and café on Wednesdays from 4 pm to closing. Specials included Steak Frites, Royale with cheese, and moules (mussels). Looking for something different for lunch in Old Town? Stop by Diya at 218 N. Lee St, for their Lunch Buffet from 11 am to 3 pm. Some of the offerings may include Veggie Pakora, Chicken Biryani, Aloo Gobi, Palak Paneer, Veggie Korma, Chana Masala, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, and Goat Curry.

The Giant is now open at 6200 Little River Turnpike at the Plaza at Landmark shopping center. The store replaces the store at 5730 Edsall Rd. The new store is much larger than the old Giant at around 56,000 feet. The new design includes a larger produce section, more ethnic foods, and hot food bars. The natural and organic food departments are also expanded. For your convenience, the store has a full-service PNC Bank and a Starbucks Café.
Chef Guo’s Imperial Banquet, 6259 Little River Turnpike, is now open. They are featuring authentic Chinese food with two fixed price menus featuring Chinese Royal cuisine. The menu includes high-end ingredients not usually available in Chinese restaurants including Wagyu beef and abalone.
It’s almost here, Taco Bell Cantina at 417 King St., the former site of Pendleton. You will be able enjoy your Taco Bell favorites with sangria, wine, beer, and alcoholic freezes. Taco Bell is planning to open around 300 Cantinas nationwide. The restaurant will serve from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily with seating for 52 inside and 20
outside.
At the other end of Old Town King St., there are happenings at Ernie’s Original Crab House, 1743 King St. Owner James “Gil” Mao has put the building up for sale. Ernie’s originally opened on Richmond Highway in 1943 and was a fixture near Fern St. and Quaker Lane until it closed in 2005. The current location opened in 2007 in the former location of Thai Peppers. Gil bought the restaurant from Ernie in 1985.Bagels are back at Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market, 4109 Mt. Vernon Ave., Sundays, 9 am-1 pm. brings bagels and other baked goods. All products are nut-free and kosher, with gluten-free and vegan options.
Pendleton Carryout Company, 807 Pendleton St., is welcoming Killa Cakes to their food incubator. They began serving deliciously creative cakes and sweets on November 30. Also arriving is a classic burger from chef and operator Ed McIntosh. Remember to order your holiday dinner offerings from Let’s Meat on the Avenue, 2403 Mt Vernon Ave. You’ll be happy you did.
