Alexandria, VA – Bishop Ireton student Kaleigh Ballagh ‘20 was recently accepted to the University of Notre Dame’s Ireland Study Abroad Program. This exclusive summer trip, which offers college-credit to participants, only accepts 18 students into the program each year.

“I’ve always wanted to travel to Ireland and learn more about its rich culture and history,” she said. “This is an amazing opportunity to study abroad with Notre Dame. I look forward to immersing myself in a new culture and experiencing the Emerald Isle firsthand. This will be an experience I will never forget.”

During this 12-day trip, participants discover the rich history and culture of both bustling Dublin and bucolic Connemara in Ireland. Guided by Notre Dame faculty and local scholars, including one of Ireland’s best-known scholars Kevin Whelan, students will embark on an exploration of Irish culture, history, and landscape through what Notre Dame’s O’Connell House calls “learning through the soles of your feet.”
