Toys4ALX Holiday Drive to Help 700 Alexandria Children
Volunteer Alexandria Urges Community to Help Meet Urgent Goal of 3,500 Toys by December 11

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Volunteer Alexandria (VolALX) is rallying the community to help brighten the holidays for local families with its annual Toys4ALX collection drive, now underway through December 11. With more families struggling under rising living costs, this year’s goal is especially critical: collecting more than 3,500 new, unwrapped toys to support 700+ children across the city.
“More and more parents are struggling to support their families due to higher costs,” said Marion Brunken, Executive Director of Volunteer Alexandria. “This toy drive helps the 300+ families registered with the Fund for Alexandria’s Child by providing 3–5 toys for each child, but we depend on the generosity of the Alexandria community to make this happen.”
To meet registered demand, VolALX must collect a minimum of 3,500 toys. Any additional toys will be shared with key partner organizations—including The Miracle League of Alexandria, clients of the City of Alexandria Domestic Violence Program and the city’s Substance Abuse Center, and others—to spread holiday cheer even further.
Volunteer Alexandria invites residents, businesses, civic groups, social clubs, and faith communities to contribute by donating toys or making a financial gift.
Toy Drop-Off Options include citywide drop-off sites located throughout Alexandria, and the Main Collection Hub at 3451 Richmond Highway (former TJ Maxx) on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 9 and 10, from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. For a full list of drop-off locations, donation guidelines, or ways to support, visit:
