The after-school ballet class at T.C. Williams, now going into its third year, is now available to the students at Alexandria middle schools – Howard, George Washington and Hammond.

Beginner ballet is taught by The Metropolitan Arts Collaborative, a non-profit which promotes the arts with traveling teachers in various art forms.

The class is free to the students, as part of the non-profit’s mission. Instructor Virginia Britton works with the students in the dance studio Wednesdays at 3:30.

“The class is very concentrated with warm ups, stretching, barre vocabulary, and locomotor steps. There is an alignment and balance emphasis. A series of stretches which can be practiced at home, is learned. The class is made for students who have no prior experience.”

Students can bus to class from their middle schools, and may register in advance or ask questions at [email protected] or text 703-568-4425.
