Peaceful Protest Planned at Alexandria’s King Street McDonald’s, Sunday, July 28.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – An international nonprofit, The Humane League, is planning to protest the Alexandria McDonald’s on 3646 King Street (at the Bradlee Center) as part of an ongoing effort to encourage the fast-food giant to implement a new animal welfare policy for the hundreds of millions of chickens used in their supply.

As one of the world’s largest and most influential companies, the League says “McDonald’s has the power to impact the entire food industry, as well as improve the lives of hundreds of millions of chickens every year. Despite public pressure, it continues to fall behind its competitors, like Burger King and Subway, and over 100 other companies who have readily committed to taking measurable steps and make necessary changes for the animals.”

The peaceful demonstration will include representatives and volunteers from The Humane League, Mercy For Animals, Animal Equality, Compassion Over Killing, and many other animal advocates gathering together for the Animal Rights National Conference on July 25-28 in Alexandria.
