Alexandria’s Beloved Bombay Curry Company Saddens Community with Closing Announcement

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Just three days into the new year, a neighborhood landmark eatery has announced it is closing its doors. Bombay Curry Company, a 40 seat neighborhood Indian restaurant in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, Virginia has been currying flavor since 1995, with good food and fair pricing,

Bombay Curry Company is consistently well reviewed both by patrons and area food critics. It has made the Washingtonian Magazine‘s 100 best and 100 ‘Best Bargain’ lists, also been listed in the Washington Post‘s annual 50 favorites, and just this month, won the 2018 Zebra magazine’s Readers’ Choice award for Best Indian restaurant.

Citing health reasons and a failed plan to turn operations over to their chef, the owners, Nicky and Bajraj Bhasin wrote on their facebook page:

“With a heavy heart, we wish to inform you that we are suspending operations at Bombay Curry Company.”

The Bhasin’s have won countless awards for their cuisine but far more memorable than the academic accolades has been the genuine affection the community shares with and for the family.

The family hopes to offer cooking classes in the future and perhaps throw special pop up dinners in their home, and encourages fans to keep following their page for updates.
