ALEXANDRIA, VA-In an effort to expand COVID-19 testing, the City of Alexandria and the Alexandria Health Department (AHD) will open various kiosk locations on Thursday, Jan. 7.
Testing at these sites will be free and identification is not required, regardless of immigration status. People who wish to be tested do not need to be covered by insurance.
Since July, the city and AHD have conducted 4,000 tests at testing events. A press release states that this new approach “will replace six hours per week of ad hoc community testing events with about 150 hours per week of kiosk availability, significantly increasing access to free testing with consistent kiosk locations and schedules.”
The approach is possible through a partnership with Curative. The company, which operates more than 8,000 testing sites throughout the country, will station its employees at the kiosks. Testing is self-administered, and the employee will place each swab in a biohazard bag to be delivered to a lab in DC.
Results will be available within 48 to 72 hours and sent by email or text message. Locations and their hours of operation follow:

Monday through Friday, 3 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Brenman Park Drive
Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Service is available in English and Spanish. Walk-up testing is available.
