Bring a Photo, Make a Book: A Family Workshop with Sushmita Mazumdar
Takes Place August 10 at 11 a.m. at the Alexandria Black History Museum
Alexandria, VA – On Saturday, August 10 at 11 a.m., the Alexandria Black History Museum is hosting an adult and child workshop. Participants are asked to bring two copies or printouts of the same photo of someone who is a “legend” in their family.
Artist Sushmita Mazumdar will show how to make a handmade storybook. Within, attendees can write a story about their chosen family member and make art to serve as illustrations. The chosen photo copy will be the keepsake’s cover.
The project is inspired by the African American Activist exhibit on view at the Museum through August 10.
The Alexandria Black History Museum is located at 902 Wythe Street. Street parking is available. The cost to make a book is only $5.
